Devoux Deysel, a sophomore at Angelo State representing South Africa, won his second men's javelin throw title in three years with a second-round mark 259-8 (79.14m) at the NCAA Division 2 Championships in Pueblo, Colo. Deysel eclipsed the 1996 Division 2 record of 256-1 (78.06m) established by Ashland's Kirt Thompson. Deysel, who also prevailed in 2021 at Grand Valley State, also ascended into the top 30 competitors in collegiate history.
